Summer is the time for opera festivals. And one of the most famous and beloved for almost 50 years is the Rossini festival in his homeland - in the seaside Pesaro. Performances take place at several venues, the main one being the 850-seat Rossini Theater, built back in 1818. Traditionally, three operas are given: two are new productions, and the third one can be a return of a performance from previous years. In addition, the public enjoys solo concerts of vocal music, performances of the Rossini Academy, symphony concerts and the annual performance of Rossini's opera "Il viaggio a Reims", staged in 2001, which serves as a kind of exam for young graduates of the Academy, most of whom will begin soloists in "adult" performances.

In August, little Pesaro comes alive and is filled with sounds - the sparkling and joyful music of its "patron" fills theaters and cafes, streets and squares. Rossini loved life and its pleasures – and the festival in his homeland became exactly that: with bursts of laughter, joyful pranks and funny jokes.
